A Special Invitation from Grandparents for Gun Safety - KS/MO

Grandparents for Gun Safety from Kansas/Missouri has invited Grandmothers Against Gun Violence to join them for this informational presentation on the falsehoods generated around firearms that have led us to where we are today.

In order to speak intelligently on the issue of firearms, we need to know how to debunk the various falsehoods that have been perpetrated by the concerns most likely to gain from these falsehoods. We encourage all our members to attend this meeting, as it will be a great source of information, and we thank Grandparents for inviting us.

In this era of 24/7 news coverage and social media, we are bombarded with information daily. Unfortunately, much of what we see and hear is actually “disinformation”. It is generally disseminated through all forms of communication and is continuous and repetitive. Its dangerous power lies in the fact that people are bad at distinguishing between fact and fiction, the “facts” often have an emotional appeal, and disinformation is easier and faster to produce than carefully researched information.

We are fortunate to have Devin Hughes, founder and president of GVPedia, an organization providing studies, white papers, and fact sheets about gun violence addressing disinformation and providing strategies to counter it.
